Inspired by a passage in Deuteronomy, Seven Sacred Species celebrates the Sacred Bounty of the Land of Israel, and includes: pomegranates, grapes, olives, figs, dates, wheat and barley. These seven foods, chosen for their spiritual as well as nutritional benefits, also flourish in Sonoma County where I live and paint. The sun and moon illustrate changing seasons and the passage of time.
