Berta won a blue ribbon and gold medal at the 2003 Senior Olympics Art Contest held at the St. Louis JCC.

Berta who was born in Brazil, immigrated to the United States with her husband and two children in 1970.She has lived in St. Louis, MO since then. Her love for sewing began at a young age. One of the highlights of her sewing career was making her daughter's wedding gown in 1983.

In 1990 , Berta embarked on a new specialty, Judaica Fabric Art. She sells her art work in synagogue and temple gift shops and gift galleries. Her Judaica work includes Challah covers and Chanukkah items. Berta has innovated a line of Jewish quilts, table runners and pillow covers with a Magen David motif.

The Jewish star is represented in different fabrics, styles and colors in her fabric collection. Last year she participated in Jewish art fairs around the country and this year she also plans to display her work at several fairs.
