Barbara Ladin Fisher

Judaic Artist
Atlanta, GA

Profile Description

Artist Statement

Nineteen synagogues in the U.S. and Israel, have commissioned colorist, Barbara Fisher to design and make over 100
Torah covers/mantles. Her other creations include Ark curtains, bimah covers, dozens of Tallis and Tefillin bags, and challah
covers. From a distance, Fisher’s works look like paintings. Hundreds of curvilinear shapes of precision cut pieces of ultrasuede, are machine stitched together in each of her fiber-art tapestries. Warm and cool colors, in a variety of sizes and shapes, add unity to every piece. No two shapes or works are exactly alike but there is a similarity to her recognizable style. Her jewelry may be seen at www.sukersa.com.
