I design and build studio furniture. My designs, purposely and inadvertently, often reflect my Jewish identity. Over the years I have developed a set of preferences. Much of my work revolves around showing beautiful wood, including exotic and unusual veneers, to advantage. The craft is always there, I hope, but the wood takes the starring role. The default in many wood objects is straight lines and right angles. But wood can also be bent or sculpted into smooth, sensuous curves. I love such nonlinear shapes and they are integral to much of my furniture.
